Thank you Amber Dawn!

Last but not the least in this series of cupcakes show-and-tell, these mini pastries were sent to me by Amber Dawn last year. My son was only a few months old then, and I did not get the chance to photograph them at the time. I should really photograph them beside a coin to show how tiny they are! The smallest one is half-scale.

Thank you Lulu!

I won this delightful collection of mini cupcakes recently, from a contest hosted by Lulu's Miniatures. My favorite is the vanilla cupcake with a tiny raspberry on top! There is also a lavender cream cake with flower decoration, chocolate chip cupcake, and the one with light blue frosting that I named "Blueberry Cottoncandy"

Happy Anniversary!

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the Mini Food Blog! Let me begin by thanking all the artists for sharing your works on this blog. Also, thanks to all the readers for keeping me company for the last four years. Last week the Mini Food Blog reached 1500 Followers, which makes me extremely happy!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Susan Eccher, daughter-in-law of artist Mary Eccher, for her contribution to the Mini Food Blog collection. Last year, Susan came across the article I had dedicated to the memory of Mary Eccher on the first anniversary of this blog. She was touched by the tribute, and sent me a number of Mary Eccher's miniatures as gift. I never dreamed of owning Ms. Eccher's works in my collection ... these minis will always remain close to my heart.

With a five-month-old at home, I have not had much time for miniatures. Today I finally took a few photos of Ms. Eccher's minis to share on the blog on this special occasion. There are a few more items in the collection that have not been photographed.

You can learn more about the artist at Pannikins by Mary Eccher. Mary's Menus is a veritable treasure trove for mini food artists! To view these articles where Mary shares her techniques for polymer clay and resin food creations, visit: pannikins.homestead.com/new.html

Thank You Kimmie Lou!

Can't believe my luck! I won this corn bread prep board on Kimmie Lou's blog give-away! From the crumbs to the tiny recipe card, thin egg shells to the freshly broken egg yolk ... the details are unbelievable! Kimmie, thank you so much for this and the cupcakes!

Thank You Oiseau!

The package from France arrived late last year, on a day when I desperately needed to be cheered up! My good friend of many years was leaving the country, so I was sad ... Oiseau's tiny treasures brought a smile on my face that day. The package included roast chicken, poached pear in chocolate sauce, pate, seashell chocolate for Christmas, an amazingly detailed Hortensia plant and carrots in a handwoven basket!

Thank You Eve!

These photos are long overdue! This fabulous cheese tray is a gift from Eve of After Dark Miniatures. I am a big fan of cheese in real life, so this is just perfect!

I had not gotten the chance to photograph it until the winter break ... so here it is!

The Birthday Party is at Kim's House!

Those who know Kim Saulter, already know her loving and generous nature, but she never ends to surprise me! Kim actually made this cake for the blog's birthday, not for the contest or anything, but just because she is a sweetheart who loves minis ... so, what are we waiting for? Let's cut the cake and pass around the plates. This is for all of you who left me such sweet comments today ... I have been sick all week with the flu, but I feel right as rain after reading all these birthday wishes! LOTS of LOVE and HUGS ~ Sumaiya.

P.S.: this cake is on it's way to Texas right now! I can't believe it! In a matter of days, I will own a Kim Saulter original!

Thank You Anthoula!

A few days ago, I received a gift all the way from Greece! When I untied the red and white checkered ribbon and unwrapped the red paper wrapping, these tiny treasures awaited me. First came the lemon meringue pie ... then the fruit tart topped with cherry and a slice of starfruit ... followed by the waffle served with chocolate ice cream and banana slices atop a dollop of cream ... and finally the tiny meringue nest with slices of citrus fruits! I love how the meringue swirls so elegantly on all of them, and the details on the starfruit and banana slices are out of this world! Thank You Anthoula!

Thank You Teresa!

These are my cherished gifts from Teresa Martínez, all the way from Spain! Earlier this year, she mailed me a copy of the Miniaturas magazine where my doll, Sunehra, was featured. Along with the magazine, she sent me her wonderful creations of preserves and the Christmas wreath. My photos don't do justice to the detail ... if you could only see the itsy bitsy slices of lemon and qiwi! From the bottom of my heart, Teresa, Thank You!
